Repairs Needed On Subways Beneath Bennion Road

Repairs Needed On Subways Beneath Bennion Road

Repairs are due to be carried out to a series of subways beneath Bennion Road in Beaumont Leys.

The four subways located at various points along the length of the road all need major maintenance, including waterproofing and resurfacing work.

Repairs will be made to damaged paving, brickwork and lighting, while parapets and crash barriers on the road above the subways will also be upgraded.

The work is due to start on February 9 on the first two subways, one of which is near the roundabout of Bennion Road and Beaumont Lodge Road, and the other which is between Pinewood Close and Heatherbrook Road.

The first part of the work runs for seven weeks and involves diverting traffic along Heatherbrook Road and Astill Lodge Road.

Immediately afterwards work will take place on the other two subways which are beneath the stretch of Bennion Road between its two junctions with Boston Road.

That work will take 10 weeks and includes diversions via Boston Road and a temporary one-way system on bennion Road itself between the two subways.

Pedestrian access under the subways will remain but the work will involve some temporary restrictions.

Bus services in the area have been advised of the works and will advertise any service changes at nearby bus stops.
