Meet Sporting Stars at Leicester Market Event

The Leicester Riders, Leicester Hockey Club, local boxer Rendall Munroe and Leicestershire cricketer Josh Cobb are just some of the sporting names set to attend Healthy Living Day at Leicester Market tomorrow (Tues 18th Feb).

Taking place between 10am and 3pm, Healthy Living Day showcases various ways in which people in Leicester can make healthy lifestyle changes.

Leicester City Council will be providing advice and information as part of its Our Healthy City campaign, and Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust’s stop smoking service will be on hand to deliver help and advice to those looking to stop smoking.

Leicester Market’s resident chef, Adam Piotrowski, will host a cookery demonstration, showing people how to create a delicious, healthy, beetroot falafel dish.

And children on their half-term break will be able to try out the mini-basketball court set up in Market Square.

Deputy city mayor Cllr Rory Palmer, who leads on health in Leicester, said: “The Our Healthy City initiative is all about encouraging people to make small changes the their lifestyle that can make a big difference to their health. I’m sure this event will showcase lots of healthy ideas, inspiration and support and I would urge people to go along and see what’s on offer.”

The day is free to attend and all are welcome.
