Kasabian Gig Announced for 2014

Kasabian Gig in Leicester Announced

Kasabian have announced details of a massive homecoming gig that they will be stage in Leicester next year to mark their 10th anniversary.

Named after Charles Manson’s getaway driver, the Leicester quartet will play a 35,000 capacity gig in June 2014 which is expected to sell out quickly. The one off gig is to mark 10 years since they released their debut album, ‘Kasabian’ which at the time had them being comapred to bands such as The Stone Roses, Happy Mondays, and Primal Scream.

The band will headline Victoria Park in the city on June 21st. Tickets are priced at £39.50, and will go on sale on Friday at 9am with some 5,000 being allocated to De Montfort Hall, with further tickets also expected to go on sale at the O2 Academy Leicester.

Speaking to the Leicester Mercury, Guitarist Sergio Pizzorno says: “It feels like it was just meant to be. It’s going to be the 10-year anniversary of the first album, so it feels right. It feels like we’ve been building up to this since the start. We’re so excited. Hopefully the whole city will come alive.”

Pizzorno hopes the gig will inspire local kids. “We really want to do something to inspire the next generation of kids. If you’re a kid and you see a band from down the road play a big gig in your city. I hope that’s inspiring,” he said. “We had to travel round the country to see the bands we liked when we were young, so it’s great to be able to do this.”

Kasabian‘s guitarist and the primary songwriter Serge Pizzorno has confirmed the band hope to have their new album released in time for the Victoria Park gig on June 21st.
