Blondie Comes To Leicester

Blondie Comes To Leicester

When you think of legends in the music industry there is one name that stands out above all the others or should I say two names ‘Debbie Harry’ & ‘Blondie’.

Blondie with Debbie Harry will be coming to Leicester’s O2 Academy this August in what is expected to be one of the most memorable gigs the O2 Leicester has ever staged.

The band was a pioneer in the early American new wave and punk scenes of the mid-1970s and although successful in both the United Kingdom and Australia, Blondie was regarded as an underground band in the United States until the release of Parallel Lines in 1978.

Over the next three years, the band achieved several hit singles[2] including “Call Me”, “Atomic” and “Heart of Glass” and became noted for its eclectic mix of musical styles incorporating elements of disco,[pop, rap, and reggae, while retaining a basic style as a new wave band.

Earlier this year they were name as NME’s Godlike Genius winners and released a new Top 20 album, Ghosts of Download.

You can buy tickets for their August the 20th concert and Leicester’s O2 academy via the website.
