2,000 Sign Up For Garden Waste Collections

More than 2,000 people have signed up for the council’s new garden waste collection service since its launch at the start of the last month.

The service offers householders a fortnightly collection of garden waste between March and October, using new green wheeled bins.

People who register for the service can recycle grass and hedge trimmings, leaves, twigs, and other garden waste.

And anyone who signs up to the scheme before 30th April can pay a reduced price of £20 for the year. After 30th April, the cost will be £30 for the year.

Cllr Sarah Russell, assistant city mayor responsible for neighbourhood services, said: “I’m delighted that our decision to launch a new garden waste collection service has received such a positive response, with so many people signing up.

“I’m pleased that we’re able to offer householders such a convenient option for recycling green waste, and I hope that lots more people will take advantage of this scheme.”

Joining the scheme is easy, with the option to register and pay online.
